FORMING ENGLISH GRAMMATICAL COMPETENCE OF THE 10 GRADE STUDENTS WITH THE USE OF AUTHENTIC AUDIOPODCASTS

The article examines the issue of using authentic audiopodcasts and interactive podcast technology as a modern effective tool for developing upper secondary school students’ English grammatical competence. The article provides the analysis of pedagogical, methodological, and psychological literature, as well as regulatory documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine concerning the aims and content of grammatical competence formation in Grade 10 of general secondary education. The rationale for integrating authentic English audiopodcasts into the process of developing students’ grammatical competence at the senior level of secondary school is substantiated, and the findings of a survey conducted among teachers and learners are presented. Particular attention is paid to the psychological and age-related characteristics of upper secondary school students; defines the methodological potential of authentic English audiopodcasts in grammar instruction; and characterizes the stages of developing foreign language grammatical skills with regard to grammar learning strategies and the development of learners’ critical thinking. A subsystem of exercises and an algorithm for working with authentic audiopodcasts aimed at fostering English grammatical competence among upper secondary school students are proposed. Criteria for selecting authentic audiopodcasts for developing students’ grammatical competence are determined, with «BBC Learning English Podcasts» selected within the thematic scope of the Grade 10 curriculum. Methodological recommendations for the use of authentic «BBC Learning English Podcasts» to develop English grammatical competence of Grade 10 students are provided, along with sample exercises based on the topic «Communication Technologies». The study demonstrates that the integration of authentic audiopodcasts into the grammar learning process enhances motivation, improves comprehension, and contributes to the systematic development of English grammatical competence among high school students.
