СHORAL CULTURE OF UKRAINE OF THE 20TH CENTURY IN THE FIGURES OF EMINENT ARTISTS. CONDUCTOR YURIY TARANCHENKO

Abstract

The article is devoted to the discourse of Ukrainian choral culture of the 20th century, which is directed towards the personological plane. It is emphasized that it is through the creative life of a specific individual conductor that the characteristic features of a historical era, aesthetic priorities, the dynamics of performing and choral culture, and the continuity of traditions are expressed. t is shown that among the new generation of choirmasters who entered music in the late 1920s–1940s, the figure of Yuri Taranchenko is representative – an outstanding conductor-performer, teacher, one of the organizers and creators of the modern choral work, and a musical figure. The involvement of little-known documents and sources from the artist's personal archive, the memoirs of contemporaries, as well as the study of audio recordings made by Yu. Taranchenko allowed us to establish the scale and vectors of the master's many years of fruitful activity. The features of life creativity are outlined, the conductor's "biographical scenario" is considered. The uniqueness of the artist's trajectory of artistic and aesthetic self-realization is determined. Objective and subjective factors of the formation of Yu. Taranchenko's personality are established. Attention is drawn to the atmosphere of life during childhood and adolescence, which contributed to selfknowledge/ self-awareness of one's own artistic purpose, choice of the profession of a musician. The process of the artist's dynamic acquisition of practical performing experience and conducting skills in the leading choirs of Ukraine led by him is revealed. The manyyear activity of Yu. Taranchenko as the artistic director and chief conductor of the choir chapel of the Ukrainian Radio is highlighted and characterized. The peculiarity of the functioning of the chapel he created as a universal choral group is determined. It is emphasized that among the then existing academic choirs, the chapel under the direction of Yu. Taranchenko was distinguished by a high level of vocal and choral mastery, a multi-genre repertoire, constant communication with composers and a million-strong audience of radio listeners. The creative method of the conductor, the features of his performing skills are characterized. A conclusion is made about the universality and high conducting culture of Yu. Taranchenko. The prospects of further study of the artist's personality and heritage as the embodiment of the gradual development and rise of Ukrainian choral art of the 20th century are shown.
