THE CREATIVE WORK OF HANNA HAVRYLETS AS A NEW STAGE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINIAN CHORAL PERFORMANCE

Abstract

The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the choral works of the outstanding Ukrainian composer Hanna Havrylets within the context of the evolution of national musical art at the turn of the 21st century. The relevance of the study is driven by the significant impact of the composer’s oeuvre on the formation of modern repertoire and the modernization of choral performance culture. The study determines that Hanna Havrylets’ creative work represents a qualitatively new stage where traditional national sources (folklore, sacred monody) are organically synthesized with the latest compositional techniques-sonorism, cluster texture, and avant-garde harmonic thinking. The genre palette of the composer's work is analyzed, highlighting sacred concertos, liturgical works, folk performances, and choral miniatures. Particular attention is paid to the concept of the «psychologization of sacred space» in spiritual music, where the emphasis shifts from ritualism to an intimate dialogue between the individual and God. It is established that the introduction of symphonic thinking into choral scores and the use of extended vocal techniques (glissando, whispering, «white voice») became a true «technological breakthrough» for Ukrainian performance art. It is substantiated that the creative heritage of Hanna Havrylets serves as a fundamental factor in preserving national identity under the conditions of globalization, as her musical language not only actualizes archaic layers of culture but also elevates them to the level of universal philosophical meanings accessible to the global community. The synthesis of the research results confirms that the composer's work plays a strategic role in the processes of integrating Ukrainian art into the global socio-cultural space. Due to a unique combination of national specificity and universal humanistic values, Hanna Havrylets' music has become a powerful tool for asserting the authority of the Ukrainian choral school on the international stage, transforming every performance of her works into an act of high-level cultural self-presentation.
