THE CONCEPT OF “MANAGEMENT OF A CHOIR” IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERN CONDUCTOR AND CHORAL EDUCATION

Abstract

The article deals with the main components of modern conducting and choral education, which consists of the following components: conducting (choral/orchestral), choral studies, practical work with a vocal and choral group, choral arrangement, choral class, voice training, instrumental training, etc. The methodology of the article is based on scientific research and analysis of literary sources, using the analytical method to review the latest research and publications in the structure of conducting and choral education and performance. The main qualities of a future choral conductor are outlined, including a perfect command of the basics of manual technique, proper vocal and instrumental training, knowledge of elementary music theory, solfege, harmony, polyphony and composition, and the presence of appropriate personal (communication, empathy, punctuality, stress resistance, critical thinking, creativity) and leadership qualities. The content of the main managerial functions of the head of the choir is clarified, including: organization and provision of appropriate material and technical conditions for the implementation of the tasks of the collective (rehearsal base; provision of participants with auxiliary materials; search for digital platforms and concert venues for performing activities), financial support of the collective (salary (if professional level); search for separate financial support (sponsors, patrons, patronage)), popularization and promotion of the team (creation of an electronic website, distribution of audio and video materials on digital platforms (e.g. YouTube), maintaining pages on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok), participation in radio and television broadcasts (if possible) on state central or regional media). The expediency of introducing the main aspects of management in modern conducting and choral education, their application during the educational process in the context of practical work with vocal and choral groups is argued.
