The article analyzes the evolution of the development of instrumental performance by determining the stages of the formation of a network of institutions of primary, secondary and higher specialized education. It was found out that the initial stage of the musicalinstrumental school was actively formed from the middle of the 20’th century to the present day and included the mandatory study of ethnic musical culture, folk instruments and basic music theory. A number of clarifications and generalizations of basic information related to the history of the emergence of the first classes of instrumental music in China, as well as the emergence and spread of modern instrumental practices in the middle of the 19’th century, are proposed. On the basis of the obtained historical data, the specifics of the development of the instrumental school in modern China are substantiated. In the work, for the first time, an attempt is made to analyze the processes of interaction of Western and Eastern traditions in the direction of instrumental art. It has been established that these traditions are reflected in the genre and style features of modern works. Based on scientific sources and personal observations, an assessment of the development of instrumental practice in the modern system of music education and performance in the People’s Republic of China is determined. The given information significantly enriches the understanding of modern problems and prospects for the development of instrumental performance. It has been proven that the modern problems of instrumental performance are related to the significant influence of Western culture, the absence of a complete system of three-level education, the Chinese school of composers, and the priority in education of the study of one’s own national heritage. In addition to educational institutions, the country has formed and is actively developing a system of living musical art, the components of which combine all types of modern musical culture. In modern Chinese instrumental music, the stylistic features of the music are determined by the combination of Chinese musical traditions and Western influences. Three main vectors of the development of the instrumental school have been identified: the Europeanization of Chinese music; preservation of ethnic musical traditions; 3) synthesis of Eastern and Western musical practices.
