The article is devoted to the historical and musicological analysis of the European flute, which presents a complete and detailed history of the existence of the European academic flute in the musical culture of modern China; the work of Chinese composers for the academic flute is covered in detail; works unknown to the Ukrainian listener and which do not appear, despite their artistic value, in the educational repertoire of domestic educational institutions are analyzed; the features of the Chinese flute education system are studied, which significantly differs in many respects from the Ukrainian one. In addition, critical considerations are expressed about the approaches to flute teaching in Chinese musical educational institutions of all levels of the educational system and the current tasks and principles of building a current educational model are formulated. It is noted that the academic flute has become a widespread and popular instrument in a short period of historical development in China; flute art demonstrates a high level of performance, significant artistic creativity, and an effective system of teaching the instrument. A feature of the educational system is the extremely active performance practice of teachers who teach the flute. They are distinguished by their multiple participation in domestic and international competitions, intensive work in orchestras and chamber instrumental groups, constant performances as soloists and soloists with an orchestra, very diverse repertoire programs, and intensive touring activities in the country and abroad. The genre of arrangement is widespread in the work of Chinese composers for the flute, which is due to the shortage of domestic repertoire at a certain stage of development. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using its materials in the academic disciplines of music colleges and universities: the history of performing arts for students of orchestral faculties and departments, the history of Eastern musical cultures. The materials of this article may also appear in the topics of courses devoted to the study of the history of non-European cultures.
