The article is devoted to the analysis of language means of implementing the formation of emotional state strategy in the modern English discourse of propaganda. It was determined that propaganda is a purposeful, systematic effort to shape perception, manipulate cognitive activity, and influence individual behavior to achieve a desired result. Accordingly, the discourse of propaganda is an information space in which propaganda is realized and manifests its properties due to the social and communicative interaction of individuals or social groups. The discourse of propaganda is characterized by the use of communicative strategies and tactics of their implementation, which exert their influence on the audience. For analysis, two communicative tactics contributing to the implementation of the above strategy were chosen, namely: fear-mongering tactic and positive associations tactic. English-language news articles devoted to the issue of globalization and its negative impact on society served as illustrative material for the research. In the course of the research, it was established that fear-mongering tactic instills in the audience a sense of anxiety and concern that the actions of globalists pose a threat to democracy; and the positive associations tactic is used to create a positive image of conservatism as a counter to globalization. The analysis of language means showed that lexical and phraseological ones are generally used to focus and accentuate the readers’ attention on the issues of the news article, but some of them still carry hidden implicit information; stylistic language means are mostly a source of emotionality and expressiveness of the news text; grammatical language means, including morphological and syntactic ones, perform various functions, in particular, they emphasize certain aspects of the article, contribute to the structural organization of the presented material, and also provide additional information to readers. Thus, it was proven that the analyzed tactics have an enormous impact on the audience, are manipulative by nature and provide a wide range of opportunities for propaganda.
