Abstract

The article explores an important aspect of literary text – dialogue – and investigates its compositional features and expressive means. The author analyzes how dialogue influences the structure of a literary work and its overall context. The article also examines how authors use dialogue to develop characters, express conflicts, and advance the plot. The study delves into linguistic and stylistic techniques that assist authors in achieving certain effects in dialogue. It contributes to a better understanding of the role of dialogue in literary literature and advances literary analytical approaches to texts. The primary means of structuring a literary work is the specific semantic and stylistic composition, which dictates the organization of its content. It’s essential to note that the “hierarchical” structure in a literary text differs from that found in official or scientific texts. In the latter, internal composition is typically determined by logic and sequence, while in a literary text, this structure is individual and unique. To achieve expressiveness in a literary text, various syntactic stylistic techniques are actively used. These include special cases of using main and subordinate sentence elements, employing a sequence of homogeneous members, word order, the use of incomplete and elliptical sentences, positional-lexical repetition, and parceling. Furthermore, the lexical and grammatical diversity inherent in literary language allows the incorporation of elements from other styles. In this context, composition plays a crucial role. Composition, alongside architectural elements, rhythm organization techniques, phonetics, and intonation, represents one of the manifestations of symmetry characteristic of traditional art. Within the composition of a literary work, dynamic content unfolds, manifesting itself in the alteration and interplay of different forms and types of discourse, as well as various styles that synthesize into an author’s image, forming a cohesive system of expressive linguistic means. This uniqueness in the linguistic structure of the author’s image best demonstrates the stylistic unity of the compositional whole on a deeper and more expressive level.
