Abstract

The article discusses the common and distinctive features of music and dance, as well as the advantages and challenges of synthesizing music and dance. To achieve this goal, a set of methods was used, including general scientific methods – analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization, which were used to study the state of development and coverage of the problem presented. Specific scientific methods include comparative and contrastive analysis, which helped to identify common and distinctive features, as well as advantages and challenges of music and dance synthesis. The study emphasizes music and dance synthesis and establishes that the synthesis of music and dance is a unique phenomenon in which musicians and dancers collaborate together to create a holistic work. Based on the application of general scientific and specific scientific research methods, the common properties of music and dance are revealed. Among them are rhythm, melody, harmony, and structure. It is proved that artistic expression, collaboration, performance, and aesthetic elements are common to the presented art forms (music and dance). The author emphasizes the distinctive features of music and dance, among which are the medium, expression, interpretation, performance, improvisation, and duration. The scientific work specifies and characterizes the factors (cultural background, artistic vision, technical limitations, collaboration process, audience expectations) that influence the synthesis of music and dance. The advantages and disadvantages that arise in the process of synthesizing two arts, in particular music and dance, are considered. It is proved that the advantage of music and dance synthesis is increased expressiveness, audience involvement and artistic innovation. On the other hand, the disadvantages of this process are timing and coordination, balancing of elements, and technical requirements.
